Outreach & Science Communication
Science communication is central to my work as an astrophysics student. I have participated in more than a dozen outreach activities across Chile — from school science fairs and university festivals to international astronomy meetings — most of them as part of the Astrodiálogos team, which builds bridges between indigenous knowledge and modern astronomy through virtual reality experiences.
April 2026
Workshop, Universidad de Concepción, Concepción, Chile
Participated in this international workshop on exoplanets, engaging in technical discussions with researchers on topics including protoplanetary disks and planet formation. The workshop brought together astronomers from across Chile and abroad to discuss the latest advances in exoplanet science.
March 2026
Exhibition, Liceo Bicentenario Maipú, Maipú, Santiago, Chile
Participated in this Astronomy Day activity organized by the school, representing Astrodiálogos. During this visit, we demonstrated an interactive board game designed to introduce participants to the connections between indigenous knowledge and modern astronomy.
November 2025
Exhibition, University of Santiago of Chile, Santiago, Chile
Participated as an exhibitor in the 4th USACH Science Festival, representing Astrodiálogos. The festival is a large annual public event at USACH that brings science closer to the general public, including schoolchildren and families from the surrounding community.
October 2025
Outreach Expedition, XX Annual SOCHIAS Meeting, Isla Huar, Isla Maillén, Isla Puluqui & Calbuco, Southern Chile
One of the most meaningful experiences of my outreach journey. This four-day expedition combined astronomy communication and indigenous knowledge in rural schools across the lakes region of southern Chile, visiting communities in Isla Huar, Isla Maillén, Isla Puluqui, and Calbuco.
April 2025
Exhibition, Liceo 7 de Providencia, Providencia, Santiago, Chile
Participated in an Astronomy Day organized by Liceo 7 de Providencia, representing Astrodiálogos. We demonstrated a virtual reality experience that lets students explore the relationship between indigenous cosmovisions and the science of astronomy, sparking conversations about the cultural dimensions of stargazing.
March 2025
Exhibition, ESO & ALMA, Chile
Participated in the ESO-ALMA Open Day 2025, one of the flagship public outreach events organized by the European Southern Observatory and the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array in Chile.
January 2025
Exhibition, Cerro Navia Science Festival, Cerro Navia, Santiago, Chile
Participated in the Fourth Scientific Summer of Cerro Navia, a public science outreach event held in one of Santiago’s most populated working-class municipalities.
November 2024
Exhibition, University of Tarapacá, Arica, Chile
Participated in the XIX Annual Meeting of the Chilean Astronomical Society (SOCHIAS) at the University of Tarapacá in Arica, representing Astrodiálogos.
November 2024
School Talk, San Marcos School, Arica, Chile
Gave a talk at San Marcos School during the visit to Arica coinciding with the XIX SOCHIAS Annual Meeting. I spoke about one of the Astrodiálogos virtual reality experiences and shared my personal journey studying astrophysics at USACH — with the goal of inspiring students from the far north of Chile to consider careers in science.
October 2024
Exhibition, University of Santiago of Chile, Santiago, Chile
Participated as an exhibitor in the 3rd USACH Science Festival, representing Astrodiálogos. This was my first participation in the USACH Science Festival, presenting Astrodiálogos to the university community and the general public.
November 2023
Exhibition, María Auxiliadora School, Santiago, Chile
Presented at the María Auxiliadora School Science Fair about ‘Oumuamua, the first known interstellar object detected passing through our Solar System. This was one of my first outreach experiences as a university student, and it focused on communicating the excitement of an unexpected discovery that challenged our understanding of interstellar matter and planetary systems.
October 2023
Exhibition, University of Santiago of Chile, Santiago, Chile
Presented about ‘Oumuamua, the enigmatic interstellar object discovered in 2017, at the annual USACH Science Fair. The presentation explored its unusual trajectory, non-gravitational acceleration, and the hypotheses proposed to explain its origin — from cometary outgassing to more speculative ideas. One of my earliest outreach experiences as an astrophysics student.
